Communities

Residential Board and Care Homes are typically (in California) residential homes that have been retrofitted to accommodate the needs of seniors.

They usually house up to 6 people in the home and are located in a neighborhood, much like where you and I live. There is care that is provided to include dressing assistance, meals, activities, and provide a safe living environment. Allows the resident to remain as independent as possible, but has immediate access to help to keep them safe.

These homes are registered with the state and must meet certain safety and care standards.

Assisted living communities offer a wide range of services, including assistance with activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, and eating.

They may also provide transportation, as well as housekeeping and laundry services. Meals are generally provided, and there are often health-related services such as medication management, physical and occupational therapy, and memory care.

Residents may also benefit from social activities, such as arts and crafts, games, and field trips. Assisted living communities typically have on-site staff of healthcare professionals, such as nurses, caregivers, and dietary chefs.

Assisted living communities offer seniors more independence and autonomy than nursing homes. They provide a safe environment where seniors can remain independent and still receive assistance with activities of daily living.

Assisted living communities also provide a social atmosphere, with activities and events tailored to their residents. We refer to Assisted Living Communities as the “Cruise ship on land”.

Cost for assisted living communities will vary depending on the community and the services offered. Generally, assisted living communities are more affordable than nursing homes.
